Mid-Century house Energy upgrade, SunnyD in Palm Springs, CA

Darren's new house in Palm Springs California was built in 1952. It was solidly constructed of masonry. Half of the house was insulated during the 80s and 90s expansion. However the original north facing outer wall has no added insulation. Best effiorts upgrading this house yields approximately a surplus of 100kWh per month.

Hong Kong Residential Roof Top Solar PV System

In the Spring of 2015, I decided to put a PV system on my sister's roof in Hong Kong. I did not realize until after I started the project that PV is not popular in Hong Kong. Hence, I have to deal with convincing the local Utility CLP (China Light and Power), the local housing authority, as well as to design and build the system. It is a 3-phase system and I learn a lot from this project. Since this is the first solar PV project that deploys micro inverters, I also have to coordinate between Enphase and CLP to create a 50Hz grid profile.

After 3 months of hard works, a 15.3kW PV system with Enphase micro inverters was born. The wiring diagram can be viewed here; and here is the array layout.
